Air Fried Lentil Vadas/Parippu Vadas

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup Gram Dal lentils 
  • ¼ cup Toor dal lentils 
  • 2 tbsp Urad Dal lentils 
  • 2-4 green chillies 
  • 6-8 curry leaves 
  • 2 tbsp cut coriander leaves 
  • 1” ginger finely cut 
  • ¼ tsp asafetida 
  • Salt to taste 

Directions

  • Wash and soak the lentils in enough water, around 3 cups for at least an hour. 
  • Drain all the water and pulse in the blender along with green chillies, curry leaves, asafetida, salt & ginger. 
  • A few spoons of water can be added to facilitate making a coarse but relatively dry blended mixture. 
  • Add the chopped coriander and mix well. 
  • Cool the blended mixture in the refrigerator for at least half an hour and then shape the lentil mixture into small round discs. 
  • Brush both sides of the discs with oil and place on a parchment paper in the air fryer. 
  • Air fry at 380F for 12-15 minutes and flip them over and fry for another 10-12 minutes. 
  • More oil can be brushed for desired crispness. 
  • Serve with a side of spicy mint chutney.
