Idli Batter Dumplings
Ingredients
- Oil spray
- 2 cups idli batter
- 1 medium onion
- ½ grated carrot
- ¼ cup grated coconut
- 1 tsp ginger
- 2 green chilies
- 2 tbsp cut coriander leaves
- ¼ tsp asafoetida
- Salt to taste
- Appam griddle
Directions
- Add the finely diced onions, grated carrots,ginger, grated coconut and the finely cut chilies to the idli batter
- Add the salt and asfoetida and mix well
- Heat the appam griddle and once hot , spray the pan generously with the oil spray and put the batter in the griddle.
- Cook covered on a low to medium flame for 3-5 mins and then flip the dumplings over to cook on the other side.
- Another generous spray of oil will help to cook the dumplings. After another 2-4 minutes, the dumplings can be removed from the griddle
- The key is to have the dumplings browned on all sides or cooked
- Enjoy with ketchup or coconut chutney
