Seitan Manchurian

Ingredients

  • 8 ounce seitan (plant based protein)
  • ¼ cup onions minced
  • ½ cup bell pepper Julienne cut
  • 2 tablespoons spring onion greens (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 4 pods garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 5 tablespoon red chili sauce
  • 4 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Water as needed to make a thick sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro minced
  • Salt and sugar to taste

Directions

  • Heat oil in a pan, add onion, garlic and sauté for 2 minutes.
  • Then add bell pepper ginger and sauté for another minute.
  • Add soy sauce, red chili sauce, ketchup, black pepper and apple cider vinegar.
  • Sauté for another minute and add ½ cup of water to make a gravy.
  • Add seitan from the package, salt and sugar.
  • Keep stirring for 5 minutes, until the seitan cooks through.
  • Sprinkle cilantro
