Thankol

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rice
  • 1 cup urid dal powder
  • 2 tbs butter at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon jeera
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 2 cups of oil for deep frying

Directions

  • Mix rice flour, urid dal powder, jeera and salt.
  • Heat butter and pour to the mixture.
  • Mix all the ingredients, add water little at a time to make a pliable dough.
  • Heat 2 cups of oil.
  • Prepare Thankol mold, add the dough in the mold.
  • Squeeze thankol on banana leaf.
  • Deep fry the squeezed thankol until golden brown.
  • Drain the excess oil on paper and store it in a tight container after it is cool.
