Yellow Moong Lentil Burger Buns

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellowMoong
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 inch grated ginger
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • A pinch of cooking soda
  • ½ tsp fruit salt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Molds for the bun

Directions

  • Wash the lentils and soak them in 4 cups of water for 3-4 hours
  • After that, drain the water completely and grind the soaked lentils with 1/4 cup water, green chillies, turmeric, salt & ginger to a fine paste.
  • Add the soda and the fruit salt and mix thoroughly.
  • Now grease four cups or molds with oil and add the moong dal batter equally in the four cups till they are half full. The cups should have enough height as the moong dal batter will rise.
  • Steam the cups of batter for 15-20 minutes.
  • Once done, allow to cool and using a knife, run along the sides to help release the bun from the mold.
  • Cut each moong dal mold into two by slicing horizontally in the middle.
  • Heat a griddle and smear oil and toast the halves of the moong dal bun on both sides for a minute or two on a medium flame to get some nice brown spots..
  • Now use these burger buns to build a nice vegetarian burger.
