Banana Raita

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 red chilly
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp urad dal
  • ½ tsp asafetida
  • ¾ cup yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp oil

Directions

  • Mash the bananas nicely so there are no pieces of banana
  • Place them in a bowl and add the yogurt & salt and mix well
  • Heat the oil and when hot add the mustard seeds and allow them to crackle
  • Once they crackle add the urad dal and the red chilly along with the asafetida
  • Once the urad dal turns golden in less than 30 secs, switch off the flame
  • Add the tempering to the raita and mix
  • Keep covered and use quickly as the bananas can darken the raita
  • Goes well with Chapatis or just as a healthy sweet treat
