I adopted a vegan diet around a year ago, and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. While I initially made the jump because of my love for animals and the environment, my health has also benefited greatly from the transition. There are a lot of misconceptions of veganism that are untrue.. So far, I have had a great experience eating nutrient rich, delicious food that has contributed to my overall well-being. I have been able to double my protein consumption, while continuing to eat almost all of the foods I love. My strength and endurance have noticeably improved, and I rarely feel tired or low in energy. In fact, I have never felt better, and I am more than excited to continue my plant-based lifestyle moving forward.
The benefits of veganism are three-fold: the positive environmental impact, animal friendly nature, and amazing health benefits that are associated with the diet. These main factors are key to its recent rise in popularity. Today, the vegan diet is rapidly growing as millions of people around the world recognize the significance of our diets. Prominent athletes, actors, and world leaders are living largely plant-based lifestyles to promote these same values. Lewis Hamilton, Novak Djokovic, and Chris Paul are just three examples of vegan athletes at the peak of their respective sports. For performance and health focused individuals, the research is clear cut. Not only can a vegan diet aid cardiovascular and muscular fitness, but it has also been proven to increase energy levels and refine focus. Several researchers and directors have documented these reasonings in articles and films which serve to educate the masses on the diet of the future.
Gaining a specific understanding of the main motivations behind vegan diet adoption is simple. The majority of carbon emissions around the world are either directly or indirectly associated with raising livestock. To avoid the inhumane treatment of animals in certain parts of the world and to reduce carbon emissions, adapting a vegan lifestyle may be beneficial. Finally, vegan diets have been proven to better the health of individuals. It is clear that the adoption of a vegan diet has many benefits to both individuals and society as a whole. The long-term growth of plant-based eating will undoubtedly be a central part of a cleaner, more ethical, and healthy future.
