Black Pepper
Black pepper is often referred as “king of spice” and is a well-known spice since ancient times. It is a perennial vine and climber that requires supporting tree to grow in height. The chemical in black pepper is piperine, which has effects in the body. The two types of pepper are; black and white.
Benefits
Piperine in the pepper helps to kill bacteria, fungi, and parasites. Acts as an antioxidant. It has minerals like potassium, calcium, zinc, iron and magnesium.
Black pepper may help in the following:
- Helps to cure common cold, cough and chest congestion.
- A teaspoon of honey with freshly crushed black pepper and quarter teaspoon of turmeric add water and drink. Two to three times a day depending on your tolerance.
- Boil water in a pot, add turmeric and black pepper and inhale it.
- Helps digestion.
- Helps increase metabolism.
- Anti-inflammation.
- Mix onion juice, camphor and black pepper powder and apply for joint pain and swelling.
