Ginger

This is a root, similar to turmeric.  Ginger contains water, proteins, fats, carbohydrate minerals, iron, iodine.  It contains gingerol, a substance with medicinal properties. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Benefits:

  • Ginger has a long tradition of being effective in alleviating symptoms of gastrointestinal distress.
  • Reduces nausea and vomiting.

Ginger may help in the following:

  • Ginger helps the immune system. One cup water with half teaspoon of turmeric, pinch of cardamom and crushed pieces of fresh ginger, boil and drink it before bedtime.
  • Upset stomach, drink ginger soda. Help digestion.
  • A small piece of ginger with little salt before meals increases appetite.
