Ingredients

  • ½ cup Idiyappam flour/Rice flour
  •  1 tbsp Roasted Urad flour
  • ½ tsp Sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp Grated coconut flakes
  • 2 tsp Softened unsalted butter
  • Salt and water as needed
  • Aforesaid a pinch
  • Cooking oil to fry

Directions

  • Combine all the dry ingredients together in a bowl, namely, the rice flour, urad flour, sesame seeds, coconut and salt.
  • Add the softened butter and mix well.
  • Next add enough water and mix/knead to a dough like chapati dough.
  • Make small round balls of the dough the size of a pea.
  • Heat the oil to medium heat and then fry these small balls till golden brown.
  • Deep fry a bunch of these small balls.
  • Move them with a ladle very slightly to prevent them from clumping together.
  • They will bubble up while they are cooking in the oil.
  • Fry them till they are a golden brown in color.
  • Remove them from oil and place them on a plate with a paper towel to drain the excess oil.
