Pathra Kadhi

Ingredients

  • ½ cup garbanzo bean flour
  • 2 cups plain yogurt, sour
  • 7 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 green chili, cut
  • 1 medium onion
  • 4 tablespoon oil or ghee
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 7 pods garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon fenugreek powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Pinch of asafetida
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 package pathra
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, minced

Directions

  • In a bowl, mix garbanzo bean flour and yogurt until smooth.
  • Add 5 cups of water and mix well so that there are no lumps.
  • Mix red chili, turmeric and coriander powder.
  • Heat a pan, add ghee, cumin seeds, asafetida. Let it splutter, then add green chili, onion, garlic, fenugreek and ginger.  Stir for 1 minute.
  • Transfer the prepared the liquid to the pan. Stir continuously until the kadhi comes to a boil.  Keep adding additional 3 cups of water as it boils.
  • Add salt in the end.
  • Prepare Pathra according to the package. Put it in the prepared kadhi.
  • Decorate with cilantro.
