Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 2 cups Water
  • ½ Coconut (grated)
  • 3 tablespoons Mustard seeds
  • 6-10 Red Chilies
  • 5 grains of Methi Seeds
  • ¼ cup oil
  • ¼ cup peanuts
  • ¼ teaspoon Asafetida
  • 1 teaspoon channa dal
  • Curry leaves

Directions

  • Cook Rice using the 2 cups of water (should not be sticky).
  • Grind coconut, red chilies, 2 tablespoons of Mustard seeds and Methi seeds – set aside.
  • Add ground ingredients to the cooked rice.
  • In a vessel heat oil, add 1 tablespoon mustard, channa dal, asafetida, peanuts, and curry leaves.
  • Add the garnish to the rice mixture and stir.
