Khara Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour or Pillsbury quick bread box 
  • 6 tablespoons aquafaba  
  • ¾ cup warm milk (skip if using Pillsbury quick bread box) 
  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast (skip if using Pillsbury quick bread box) 
  • 1 onion, minced 
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 
  • 2 green chilies, minced 
  • 1 teaspoon sugar 
  • ¼ cup dill, minced 
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro 
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream 
  • ¼ cup cranberries (optional)   
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil 
  • 1 cup water (if using Pillsbury quick bread box) 

Directions

  • In a large bowl mix ¾ cup warm milk, 1 tsp sugar and 1 tsp dry yeast. 
  • Add all-purpose flour, salt and rest of the ingredient. 
  • Knead to a smooth and soft dough.  Add butter and continue to knead the dough.  The dough needs to turn non-sticky and yet remain super soft. 
  • Let the dough rise for 1 hour.  Knead the dough again slightly removing air incorporated. 
  • Line a bread pan and place the dough on the liner.  Cover with a moist cloth and let it rest for another 20 minutes. 
  • Brush the dough with milk or aquafaba.  
  • Preheat oven at 350 F and place the dough in the oven.  Bake for 50 minutes or until done. 
  • Let it cool and slice accordingly.
