Sweet Kichadi (Pongal)

Ingredients

  • ½ cup moong dal
  • ½ cup rice
  • 1 pound light brown sugar powder
  • ½ cup of water
  • ½ cup almond powder
  • 3 tablespoons ghee
  • 10 cashews
  • 10 raisins
  • ½ teaspoon cardamum powder

Directions

  • Cook moong dal and rice together in a rice cooker or insta pot.
  • In a sauce pan melt brown sugar in the water on medium heat.
  • When the sugar is melted add the cooked dal and rice combination.
  • Add almond to it. Keep stirring until it thickens.
  • In a separate sauce pan melt ghee and add cashews until it is brown, add raisins.
  • Garnish the pongal with the cashews, raisins and add cardamum powder.
