Venn Pongal

Ingredients

  • ½ cup regular rice
  • ¼ cup moong dal
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 5 curry leaves cut into quarters
  • 10 cashews made into pieces
  • 5 tablespoon ghee
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder

Directions

  • Roast moong dal, when aromatic remove from flame.
  • Add rice, water and turmeric powder.
  • Cook on the stove or in the rice cooker.
  • In a small pan, heat ghee.
  • Add cumin seeds, let it splutter.
  • Add cashews and roast it until it is brown.
  • Pour this entire tempering on the Pongal and mix well.
  • It is ready.
