Amla Pickle

Ingredients

  • 1 package frozen Amla  
  • 2 Green chili  
  • ½ cup mustard oil 
  • 1/8 teaspoon asafetida  
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seed, roasted/powdered 
  • 1 teaspoon carom seed (ajwine), roasted/powdered 
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder  
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seed, roasted/ powdered 
  • 1 teaspoon coriander, roasted/powdered  
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder  
  • ¼ cup lemon juice (optional) In case the goose berry in not sour  
  • Salt to taste 

Directions

  • Air fry the frozen goose berry @ 350 for 10 minutes. 
  • Cut the goose berry into half, remove the seeds. 
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a sauce pan, add asafetida and gooseberry. 
  • Add all the spices, salt and mix well.  Shut the heat off.  After it cools put it in a 16 oz jar.  Add lemon juice (optional). 
  • Heat the rest of the mustard oil, add chilies.  The oil should be smoking, remove from the heat and let it cool.   
  • Add it to the goose berry. Mix it well. 
  • I refrigerate my pickle.
