Pineapple Raita

Ingredients

  • 1 cup crushed pineapple (can)
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 tsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 1 red chilly
  • 1 tbsp jaggery/brown sugar
  • ½ tsp asafetida
  • Salt as desired

Directions

  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Add the mustard seeds and allow it to crackle
  • Urad dal, red chilly & asafetida are added next
  • After 15 secs or so and the urad dal is roasted to a golden brown,add the pineapple
  • Add the jaggery at this time
  • Saute the mixture for 2-4 minutes to cook the pineapple
  • Switch off the flame and once cooled, mix the yogurt with the pineapple mixture
  • Add the desired salt and serve cold with chapatis
