Puliogra Gojju

Ingredients

  • ½ package 100% natural  tamarind concentrate (200 g) (1 cup) 
  • 3 cups of water 
  • 2 serving spoons rasam powder (recipe under spices) 
  • ½ cup peanuts 
  • 3 springs curry leaves 
  • ½ teaspoon asafetida 
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds 
  • 2 teaspoons chana dal  
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds, roasted & powdered 
  • 4 tablespoons jaggery powder 
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper 

Directions

  • In a sauce pan heat oil, add mustard seeds, asafetida and curry leaves.  Let it splutter.   
  • Add peanuts and chana dal, roast until golden. 
  • Pour the tamarind concentrate into the sauce pan, add water and stir. 
  • Add rasam powder, jaggery powder, black pepper and let it boil until it reduces to 1/3 the quantity. 
  • Add sesame seed powder and let it boil to a thick consistency.
